DWG-Datei-Endung wird von Zeichnungsdateien. Diese Dateien werden erzeugt und sich durch eine Vielzahl von Computer-Aided Design (CAD)-Anwendungen. Diese Dateien enthalten Informationen darüber, 2D-und 3D-Objekte oder Konzepte in anderen Worten. DWG-Format wurde ursprünglich in den 1970er Jahren und später in Lizenz von Autodesk. Es wurden 18 größere Änderungen der Standard so weit.
DWG-Format wird nativ unterstützt von Anwendungen wie AutoCAD, PowerCAD, IntelliCAD und andere. Aufgrund von Lizenz-Beschränkungen gibt es keine Open-Source-Software, arbeitet mit ihr. Allerdings gibt es einige kostenlose Programme, die entweder die Anzeige oder die Umwandlung von DWG-Dateien. Dazu gehören: AutoDWG DWG zum Bild / PDF-Konverter, progeCAD Viewer, Volo View Express, Bentley View und andere.
